You're on Facebook, so what?

Not whether you use the new media but how you use it

Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Wordpress, Pinterest, YouTube, Myspace, Flikr... In addition to these big names, there is a new social media site born every week. Most don't make it past their first year of existence. With other platforms, not being on it could actually hurt you.

Do you need to be everywhere? – Most emphatically, no.

So how do you choose?

The answer depends on personality, team members, existing daily routines, how flexible these are, how you work, what you like, dislike... If you're not yet on Facebook, what are the chances that you're going to enjoy it once you've signed up? If you don't enjoy it, what are the chances that you will keep visiting on a regular basis?

How about blogging? Do you like writing about what you do? Maybe Twitter is a better option?

New media is not all about social media
